NUGGETS ON’ DIVINE’ CALLING 7

NUGGETS ON’ DIVINE’ CALLING 7
New week blessings everyone, thanks to all those that have been tuning in to listen to my Radio Talk show” Heart to love with Fola” and  thanks to those that have shared  their  testimonies of our the show has been a blessing to  them. I am deeply honored and I give all the Glory to God for what He is doing and has started to do in all our lives , He that began the  good work will complete it all in our lives in Jesus name. Amen .Now to the conclusion on my series on Divine calling:
In the course of discovering our calling, we may have to make certain decisions to accommodate our discovery. This could be either stopping our secular job, retaining our secular job but now with God and Godly focus in it, retiring from our secular job or making other significant changes The Holy Spirit may direct and lead us to take in accomplishing and fulfilling our discoveries.
The point to note here is once our motives and our heart conditions once they are right and pure, we would not feel any guilt for taking whatever decision we took just so we can fulfill our calling properly. Once we are about doing God’s business for kingdom sake, God will elevate us whether we like it or not. So whether it is fame, promotion, more money or more opportunities that comes along our way as a result of our obedience to the call, we should not resist the blessing or feel in anyway guilty. Remember our God is God of increase and He always rewards our obedience to Him with increase.
These are some  practical examples whereby people changed their vocation, course of direction after discovering their calling. 1. A very successful rhythm and blues singer after getting saved   discovered her assignment, stopped   playing and dancing in the club and then changed to singing Gospel music. 2. A medical doctor decides to quit medicine and go into full time ministry after discovering his calling in God to be a preacher of the Gospel.3. A woman   that lost her only child   right after having her birth adopts a baby, and then adopts another one after discovering her calling several years later; she quits her 9-5 job and start running her own foster care agency business. 4. A movie star that is successful and doing well in Hollywood ,after discover his calling ; he starts using his gift, talents and abilities to reach out to the lost in the film and sex industry in an evangelistic ,comical  way.5. A woman that was abused as a teen who later discovered in life that she’s called to  minister to abused people then set up a resource and help ministry to help them regain their self-love, self-forgiveness and promote their well-being”.
For those that are called to ministry, the following things are ways to recognize that you are being called to minister to God’s people .1. You always have a deep passion to reach out to the lost and the unsaved.2. Whatever angers God angers you.3.Whoever rebels against God angers you.3. You are willing to go the extra mile and do the unusual in faith, even when it activates the devil.4.You really want to know more about God the Father, Son and The Holy Spirit. God’s presence inspires you.5. You are willing to learn from other mentors, Men and Women of God and the Holy Spirit. You want to read more about the things of God and you are willing to invest your time in all these activities.6. You just want to serve in any area of capacity that you see the need. (Servant heart).7. The one thing that really that satisfies and gives you joy is preaching or teaching The Gospel.
 2Peter1:3
[Confirming One’s Calling and Election] His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
2 Peter 1:10
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,
Hebrews 3:1
wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.
Whatever we do, once our eyes are fixed on Jesus, we will not miss out on anything in our calling.
Colossians 1:9-13[Jesus Greater Than Moses] Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.
Ephesians 4:4 there is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.
Ephesians 1:18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
1 Corinthians 1:26 for ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.
1 Corinthians 7:20
Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.
Eph4:1
[Unity and Maturity in the Body of Christ] as a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
Philippians 3:14
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Psalms 37:23 The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. I hope all these nuggets have blessed anyone out there wondering about his calling/assignment. Yes, God has a calling and assignment for everybody but we all have to individually make time and effort to discover these callings. These are just foundation basics on divine calling. For those that have not yet discovered their calling, Temitope  Altarof Worship on Facebook; A dynamic Woman of God is presently organizing a continuous,  forum with extensive courses running on Discovering your calling on Facebook. Check her forum out and be mightily blessed. She was live on my show on May 3.

2 Thessalonians 1:11
With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. AMEN

Watch out for  my next series I will share various nuggets of wisdom on the Word of God.

NUGGETS ON’ DIVINE’ CALLING 6

Today am continuing on the series on “Divine Calling.” This is a dear topic to my heart because until we find out and begin fulfilling our calling in life, everything else we do is irrelevant.

Our   divine calling may sometimes be linked with our secular vocation, our skills, knowledge, abilities, gifts and talents .These are all what God uses in training us before we launch into our spiritual calling. Our secular jobs are the training grounds for our spiritual calling. It is therefore important to take our secular job seriously with diligence, commitment and faithfulness. Often times in The Bible God trains and uses people in their secular job before promoting them to their divine calling.  These are examples of some people in their other jobs before they were called by God; Such as Abraham was an idol worshipper before God called him out to be a worshipper of God, David and Moses were shepherding sheep before they became Shepherds to God’s Great people. Joseph was an expert in interpreting dreams before he got his promotion to the palace, from pit to prison then palace. Deborah was a prophetess, wife and a judge in Israel.

Other times  God also  uses people with flaws, so don’t think because you have some flaws then God cannot use you. That’s not true at all, some examples  of such are Noah, who  was a drunk but God still used him, Rahab was a harlot, Moses stammered,  Jacob was a trickster, Gideon came from the weakest tribe and he was the least in his family but God still called and used him as judge and  he defeated the Midianite, Simon Peter denied Jesus three times but he ended up being used by God with miracles ,signs and wonders . Apostle Paul  was formerly  Saul that  used to kill and persecute Christians. All these shows us that God can call and use anybody he desires to use regardless of their inadequacies in the flesh/physical. Once these men and women discovered their calling, they went about doing it.
The following are other features of the divine calling; it is unique for individuals, cannot be achievable without depending on God and His Grace. In our own strength and ability, we cannot get into our calling, we need God. God calls whosoever he wants, we are never qualified before he calls us, his calling qualifies us .He chooses whoever he wishes to choose. That’s why He is God and not man.  Attaining our calling is possible as long as one is coachable and teachable to God the Father, Son and The Holy Spirit and our spiritual mentors that He brings along our path. We need to be submitted to their leadership/mentorship and be accountable   to them. Calling demands from us faithful services to mentees, diligence to all the Spirit led appointments He brings along our ways, and faithful discharge of duties to all that God has assigned us to do in our walk with him, stewardship to other great men and women of God and others. It requires lots of personal discipline and integrity in our individual   lives and in our homes/job/business  and constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit so we can discern the moments, seasons and times of our lives as well as the people he will be bringing across our paths during these cycles; They are not a mistake ,co incident or accident meeting, they are part of the paths we have to faithfully cross with love, endurance and patience to help us in discovering and in fulfilling  our calling.

It is therefore necessary to get rid of the flesh in our love walk and inter personal relationship and dealings with people, so that we will not lose out on friendship with our God assigned helpers of destiny. It will require us moving out of our comfort zones and this may hurt our emotions and flesh from time to time. We just need to die to self and the flesh daily so that we can hear clearly from God and be able to enjoy the journey rather than enduring it. Creating an atmosphere of Worship and praise invites and invokes    the interruptions of the promptings of the Holy Spirit into our daily activities. God can also speak to us about our calling/assignment   during such moments. He leads guides and directs us on what to do next.
Remember whatever we subject ourselves to eventually master us, so if we subject ourselves to being led by the Spirit,  the Holy Spirit become our master  and same way if , we subject ourselves to being led by our flesh , the devil becomes our master.
Calling requires our obedience to God and every time we obey, God guarantees and commands increase to come into our lives. God always reward our obedient act with increase in our level of wisdom, finances and relationships. The same way disobedience is costly and it attracts loss and decrease. Therefore  it is always good to be quick to repent of the works of the flesh and to  not let our heart be hardened to the voice of the Spirit, if not one would not be able to receive spiritual instructions because our spiritual antennae’s have been clogged due to too much sins/works of the flesh.
Do you know your gifts and callings or are you finding it difficult to figure out?
Now is a good time to sign up for my Spiritual Growth and Development package, they are half price and one of the topic there is Spiritual & Physical Gifts. In this apckage, you will be able to identify the differences between both and recognize your calling and giftings.

NUGGETS ON’ DIVINE’ CALLING 5

Showers of Wednesday Blessings to you all, i do hope you are all enjoying the midweek.Enjoy my continuation on my series on Divine calling;
"SOME   WISDOM LESSONS FROM OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST AND HIS DIVINE CALLING"
Our Master, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ knew what he was born to accomplish. He discovered and started doing it at a very early age. He developed a passion for doing what he was born to do and taught daily in the temple.
Luke 2:39:50 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.
The Boy Jesus at the Temple
41 Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. 43 After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. 44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” 50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
Luke 19:47 And He was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people sought to destroy Him.
Matthew 26:55. In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize me.
Jesus was also blessed doing what He was born to be doing, contrary to some false teachings Our Lord Jesus Christ was not a poor man. The proof that he was blessed is found in the fact that He had a treasurer (Judas) who was also stealing money from his treasury.
John 12:1-6.  Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages. He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.
Our Lord Jesus Christ    never allowed the devil to distract him with all his temptations. He was focused, he knew who he was in God and He knew how to use the Word to defeat the devil.
Matthew 4:1-11 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”
Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.”
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.”
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
We would also face a lot of distractions while in our journey of our calling but we should never allow the enemy and his distractions to make us lose our focus, our stance and our calling/relationship with God.
Jesus did all He had to do in   his obedience first to his earthly parents at the young age: God rewarded him with wisdom.
Luke2:52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.
He did not disrespect his earthly and heavenly parents. He waited until age of thirty and his appointed timing before starting his ministerial calling. Same way we ought to be obedient to God, our earthly and spiritual fathers. We should not step out a little bit too early or too late, the calling is always attached with times and seasons, once we are obedient and honest with God and our fellow men ,things will fall in line and in our favor.
Jesus fully obeyed God even to the death on the cross, went to hell and resurrected on the third day so we can live a victorious life. We too in our individual lives, have to obey God fully not partially not just when it is convenient for us to obey .Just like our Master Jesus, we may also have to go through some tough Fridays and Saturdays before we get to our resurrection Sundays.
Calling requires a lot of hard work, training prayers, and steadfastness with God, long-suffering, patience and endurance.
Luke2:46-52 after three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.  Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.  When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you. ”Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house? But they did not understand what he was saying to them. Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
It is God that does the calling not man and He alone takes the honor not man.
Hebrews 5:4 and no one take this honor on himself, but he receives it when called by God, just as Aaron was.
2 Timothy  1:9 who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.
God himself distributes the calling not man.
Ephesians 4:1-2 as a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Ephesians 4:11-14 Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.
The calling eventually brings us to a place of maturity in God.
God   calls us regardless of whom we think we are what we think we can do or cannot do and He never changes his mind on us even if we choose to go in another direction or course for our lives.
Romans  11:29 for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
The Holy Spirit in us leads us by his Spirit but we have to make a free will choice on moving and doing or not to move and do. God does not manipulate a person to do things for him, that’s the devil’s tool; manipulation, deception and trickery are weapons of the devil not God’s way at all. God desires for us to be willing to yield unto his calling and bidding on our own volition .He never forces his will on us.
The Calling may require many times of being alone with God, spending time with God, separation and consecration. As we make a habit of spending time with God, He will reveal the hidden things to us, he will also reveal some characters of the flesh in us from which we have to change from, these processes will place demands of shifting, moving and transformation necessary before God can use us in the level of what and where He wants to use us .The anointing of God comes with great responsibility and God will only release as much as we can bear at the level we are with him. The more closer we get to him, the more mature we begin to get in Spiritual things and the more God can trust us with bigger responsibilities/anointing. Remember God cares and loves us too much so He will only give to us what will be a blessing to us and not a burden to us.
To whom much is given much is expected.
Luke 12;48 b From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

 Matthew’s calling:
Matthew 9:9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
John the Baptist calling:
Mark1:1-4 The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah the Son of God as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way “a voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’ And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus’s ministry:
Luke4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.
Jesus’s calling his Disciples:
Mark 8:34 Jesus calling to discipleship; then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.
Calling of the twelve disciples;
Luke 9:1-3 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, and no extra shirt.
Calling of the seventy:
Luke 10:1-2 After this the Lord appointed seventy   others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Calling of Apostle Paul:
Acts 9:3 -6 as he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
 Calling of Cornelius:
Acts 10; 3-7 One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius! Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter.  He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea. “When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants.  He told them everything that had happened and sent them to Joppa.

NUGGETS ON’ DIVINE’ CALLING 3

NUGGETS ON’ DIVINE’ CALLING 3

Thursday Blessings to you all.
The following are the remaining examples of some people that were called in The Old Testament.
Samson’s calling:
Samson was called to deliver his people before he was even conceived. He was set apart and consecrated for the call as a young child. He was raised by godly parents that adhered to all the instructions given to them regarding his call and calling by God, however when he became a grown man he yielded to his flesh and selfish desires which denied him the privilege of delivering the Israelites from bondage.  At the verge of his last days, he chose to walk by faith , he humbled himself and asked for God to use him again in a mighty way though he had lost his eyes and his initial strength; God answered his cries , he defeated more of the enemies( Philistines) in his death than when he was alive although he  still left the Isrealites in bondage. Remember He was called to be their deliverer but he could not  fulfill that calling completely while he was alive  because of his flesh and selfish pursuits.
Judges 13:6-7 The woman ran and told her husband, “A man of God appeared to me! He looked like one of God’s angels, terrifying to see. I didn’t ask where he was from, and he didn’t tell me his name. But he told me, ‘You will become pregnant and give birth to a son. You must not drink wine or any other alcoholic drink nor eat any forbidden food. For your son will be dedicated to God as a Nazirite from the moment of his birth until the day of his death.”Judges 14:1-4 One day when Samson was in Timnah, one of the Philistine women caught his eye. When he returned home, he told his father and mother, “A young Philistine woman in Timnah caught my eye. I want to marry her. Get her for me.”
His father and mother objected. “Isn’t there even one woman in our tribe or among all the Israelites you could marry?” they asked. “Why must you go to the pagan Philistines to find a wife?”
But Samson told his father, “Get her for me! She looks good to me.” His father and mother didn’t realize the Lord was at work in this, creating an opportunity to work against the Philistines, who ruled over Israel at that time.
Samson’s Final Victory
Judges16:23-30
23 The Philistine rulers held a great festival, offering sacrifices and praising their god, Dagon. They said, “Our god has given us victory over our enemy Samson!”
24 When the people saw him, they praised their god, saying, “Our god has delivered our enemy to us! The one who killed so many of us is now in our power!”
25 Half drunk by now, the people demanded, “Bring out Samson so he can amuse us!” So he was brought from the prison to amuse them, and they had him stand between the pillars supporting the roof.
26 Samson said to the young servant who was leading him by the hand, “Place my hands against the pillars that hold up the temple. I want to rest against them.” 27 Now the temple was completely filled with people. All the Philistine rulers were there, and there were about 3,000 men and women on the roof who were watching as Samson amused them.
28 Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me again. O God, please strengthen me just one more time. With one blow let me pay back the Philistines for the loss of my two eyes.” 29 Then Samson put his hands on the two center pillars that held up the temple. Pushing against them with both hands, 30 he prayed, “Let me die with the Philistines.” And the temple crashed down on the Philistine rulers and all the people. So he killed more people when he died than he had during his entire lifetime.
Samson’s calling is a wake -up call for us as believers to consider our lives today and be doing whatever God is calling us to do without wasting our lives on selfish, fleshy pursuits and desires.
Let’s reach out and make a difference in this world. We really do not even know when that end will be -- only God knows.  So let’s start today by committing  our lives (and all those selfish choices) to the LORD Jesus Christ and  to purpose to do what God is calling us to do for Him and His Kingdom. .
Ephesians 5:15-16   So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Samuel’s calling:
1Sam3:8 A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy.
David’s first anointing as King:
1Sam 16:12-13 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.” So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah
Esther’s calling:
Esther 4:13-15 Mordecai sent this reply to Esther: “Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. 14 If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”
15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” 17 So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him.
Isaiah’s calling:
Isaiah 6:8-10 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? “And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” He said, “Go and tell this people: Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes .Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”
Jeremiah‘s calling:
Jeremiah 1:4-7 The word of the Lord came to me, saying, before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.

Ezekiel’s calling:
Ezekiel 2:2-4 He said to me, “Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak to you. “As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. He said: “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their ancestors have been in revolt against me to this very day. The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says
Hosea’s calling:
Hoses1:2- When the Lord began to speak through Hosea, the Lord said to him, “Go, marry a promiscuous woman and have children with her, for like an adulterous wife this land is guilty of unfaithfulness to the Lord.” So he married Gomer daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.
Jonah’s calling:
When the Lord initially called Jonah , he tried to run away from fulfilling the call.
Jonah Runs
The Lord gave this message to Jonah son of Amittai: “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are.”
But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord. He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the Lord by sailing to Tarshish.
But the Lord hurled a powerful wind over the sea, causing a violent storm that threatened to break the ship apart. Fearing for their lives, the desperate sailors shouted to their gods for help and threw the cargo overboard to lighten the ship. But all this time Jonah was sound asleep down in the hold. So the captain went down after him. “How can you sleep at a time like this?” he shouted. “Get up and pray to your god! Maybe he will pay attention to us and spare our lives.”
Then the crew cast lots to see which of them had offended the gods and caused the terrible storm. When they did this, the lots identified Jonah as the culprit. “Why has this awful storm come down on us?” they demanded. “Who are you? What is your line of work? What country are you from? What is your nationality?”
Jonah answered, “I am a Hebrew, and I worship the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land.”
10 The sailors were terrified when they heard this, for he had already told them he was running away from the Lord. “Oh, why did you do it?” they groaned. 11 And since the storm was getting worse all the time, they asked him, “What should we do to you to stop this storm?”
12 “Throw me into the sea,” Jonah said, “and it will become calm again. I know that this terrible storm is all my fault.”
13 Instead, the sailors rowed even harder to get the ship to the land. But the stormy sea was too violent for them, and they couldn’t make it. 14 Then they cried out to the Lord, Jonah’s God. “O Lord,” they pleaded, “don’t make us die for this man’s sin. And don’t hold us responsible for his death. O Lord, you have sent this storm upon him for your own good reasons.”
15 Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once! 16 The sailors were awestruck by the Lord’s great power, and they offered him a sacrifice and vowed to serve him.
17 Now the Lord had arranged for a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights. By the end of Jonah’s encounter in the belly of the whale, he repented and was now ready to do the will of God and obey the call. He eventually did this in Jonah 3.
Jonah 3; 1-4 Then the Lord spoke to Jonah a second time: “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and deliver the message I have given you.”
This time Jonah obeyed the Lord’s command and went to Nineveh, a city so large that it took three days to see it all. On the day Jonah entered the city, he shouted to the crowds: “Forty days from now Nineveh will be destroyed!” The people of Nineveh believed God’s message, and from the greatest to the least, they declared a fast and put on burlap to show their sorrow.
